Do the Right Thing. Right Now.
Do the Right Thing officially launched today.
If you haven’t seen it yet, the site is aimed at keeping companies in check by enabling users to rate the social impact of the company’s actions. If a company does something you find offensive, simply post a story about it so others can rate how important it is to them. If a company does something you find respectable and good, and do the same thing. Either way, find out which companies are doing the right thing so you can be more informed as a consumer.
DTRT is a brilliant idea and a noble cause, and I’m very proud to have been able to work with Rod and the rest of the team to improve the design of the site. They are to be commended for their commitment to influencing companies to uphold the highest moral standing and to do what’s best for the world, and for giving credit where credit is due.
Congratulations to the DTRT team! Keep up the great work!

Looks great man :)

I think sites like this should be careful. Most people post negative things about a company and when they are satisfied with a company they never take the time to post anything.
In some industries like real estate, people will complain about a company without looking at the underlying issue. These people lack the knowledge to make important decisions, but enough knowledge to write something bad about a company that has done nothing wrong.
It’s easy to bash a real estate company or realtor for not selling your home. But, did you realize that A. your home is overprices, B. your home is a piece of crap and needs repairs, and C. it’s not a buyers market.
I for one hope they allow companies to present their side of the issues and this doesn’t just turn into a company bashing site.

It definitely carries that possibility, but at the same time, as I write this, nine of the ten stories on the homepage have positive ratings. It’s only the second day of the site’s existence, but so far it looks like people are enjoying speaking up about the good things a company does. Let’s hope that remains a trend.

Thank you Robert for all your support and hard work on this. You really went well out of your way to help us get things dialed in. It was a pleasure to have you as part of the team, look forward to what the future brings…
In fact, Robert is right on here… we have already implemented functionality that allows company representatives to join in on discussions as well. The community is mostly interested in encouraging companies to do more of the right thing by highlighting these activities…
